Silent Auction for Haiti

BPC organized a silent auction fund raising event for Haiti. I thought this is a nice cause and a good chance to see photos by other BPC members. I donated three images and felt happy that one of them is sold and raised some $. Just heard that we raised about $3500 and will donate to Doctors without borders. Quite impressive from a three hour event.

Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony

Last night I went to the annual holiday lighting event at Faneuil Hall market place. Previously I have taken some holiday decor pictures a few times but never right at the ceremony. Although it is already in late Nov, the weather in Boston is still presently enough. Still I am surprised to see such a big crowd in the market place. Got there at least half hour before the lighting schedule and I still had to squeeze in for a okay spot for pictures. It was a fun event and I am glad I went.

Kayaking at Belle Isle Marsh

I joined a photo club activity at Belle Isle Marsh Reservation this weekend. Great experience and quite a bit exercise too, since it was quite windy. I heard there is bird watching opportunity so brought a 70-200mm with me, also my panasonic TZ5. I have never done kayak before but have experience with canoe and sail boat. Took a few minutes to get myself comfortable and then off I go.

My first photo show with a group of pro and amateur photographers. Great learning experience! From the printing, paper, presentation, to framing and arrangement. And more importantly, inspiration on new subjects and angles.

周五下班后，拿上相机去参加BPC的newbury 扫街，照夜景活动。去晚了，从arlington这边的Chanel开始追，不一会儿就看到了拿着“长枪，短跑”的小队人马。打了个招呼后大家继续“扫街”。照着照着人马就散了。俺正捧着相机东张西望，忽然听见后面有人好像在招呼我。回头一看是一位身着红色长裙的艳丽女子。她说“ I am a psychic. You know what it is? a fortune teller. I can sense a strong aura surrounds you. I think you meant to find happiness and love. I would love to have a reading for you.” 我心想，大概看到我傻乎乎乐呵呵的东张西望吧。其实我在找有什么可照的讷。于是装糊涂。她又问我会讲何种语言。我说中文。她说会一点日文。俺赶紧说“too bad， maybe next time." 难得“艳遇"。 是以记之。:)

中国城看舞狮

以前去中国城，基本上是限时定点，买了菜就走。周日去看舞狮游行，边跟着队伍边照相，来来回回走了N条街。看到了好几家以前光听说的店家。舞狮游行队伍是从ESSEX/Washington交界处临时搭的舞台出发。各路队伍轮流上台献艺，配着鼓点，踢踏腾跃，摇首摆尾。然后伏下拾起台上准备好的红包利市，大橘，生菜（大吉，生财）。利市纳入腰包，大橘，生菜抛给台下众人。眼见一大橘子向我飞来，为了掩护相机，我奋不顾手的接住了它。哈哈，我也迷信一把，但愿今年好运也向我飞来。
